WOODBOURNE FOREST, PENNSYLVANIA
---
Shiloh grunted loudly as she managed to hobble a few feet forward in the dense forest grass. She had just finished off another monster that had been praying upon poor hapless humans that wandered into its territory. Even though the creature was dead and posing no threat to anyone anymore it had left Shiloh with a couple of souvenirs. Mostly a lot of cuts and bruises, the major thing it had done was come down on Shiloh's ankle really hard. With all the pain shooting up her leg it was kind of hard for her to tell if it was broken or not.
She would have to figure that out for herself when she made it back to her car, she mentally noted to herself. If she ever got back, she added as it seemed to be taking her forever to even walk a couple of feet. Especially since she had to lean a lot of her weight against the trees she passed. They helped her keep upright for the most part, until she hit an area where the trees grew farther apart.
Then she was forced to awkwardly hop until she could reach another tree and rest. This was the fourth time she had hit another patch of trees that spread out. She gave herself a moment to prepare before attempting to move. Which brought another stabbing wave of pain to her ankle. Any movement at all had become hard to bear. But she was used to pain, it came with the job.
So she gritted her teeth together and sucked it up. She was going to get to her car one way or another she told herself as she pushed forward through the pain. Reaching the next set of trees, Shiloh let herself lean against the trunk of a tree before she found herself sliding downward until she was sitting on the ground. As she sat down on the ground she could feel the rough bark of the tree poke her back in different spots, but that was the least of her problems.
Shiloh examined her ankle, which was easy since she wasn't wearing any long pants. Her ankle looked pretty normal except for the swelling, and red color that had started to form. But that looked pretty normal to her for a sprain. Gingerly she poked at her ankle to see where it hurt the most, and she found that it hurt the most on the left side. As far as she could tell nothing was broken, but she still wanted a second opinion since she wasn't a doctor.
Shiloh had tried to push herself back up into a standing position, but it was hard since she couldn't figure out a way to do without putting pressure on her bad ankle. So she let herself sit back down and tried to think of another way to get back up.
"Really wish I had some backup right about now," she muttered to herself before leaning back against the tree to rest for a moment.
